Spatial mapping

Map the space.
Build the rig.

Bring in a plan, a scan or a lighting plot. Place fixtures, pixels and zones in the same 3D model your show plays on.

Four ways in

Start with the material you have.

Lightshaped records where each dimension and placement came from, so you can see what still needs checking on site.

CAD / BIM

OBJ · MVR

Bring authored project geometry in at declared units. Architecture stays non-emitting context; products and zones remain editable.

Reference geometry, not a measured installation

LiDAR

RoomPlan · Lightshaped Spatial JSON

Capture metric room surfaces with the iPhone LiDAR app, or import the same evidence into Studio for room-first design.

Measured room; fixture placement still needs identity

Images

PNG · JPEG · WebP

Use up to four views to preserve silhouette, visible layers and relative composition while the design system marks dimensions as approximate.

Visual evidence, never hidden patch data

MVR / GDTF

Fixture identity · geometry · patch

Start from the industry's project exchange format, preserve fixture metadata and move into the same scan-and-verify workflow.

Imported patch remains unverified

Design into the twin

Place products by hand, with AI, or both.

Select a catalog product and position it on the shared 3D model, or ask Lightshaped to propose a complete layout within the measured envelope. Manual refinement and AI refinement use one rig format.

  • Fixtures, pixel surfaces and physical modules
  • Independent semantic zones for artistic targeting
  • Aligned universe packing without split pixels
  • Controller-capacity planning without invented port claims
  • Optional OneEightyOne catalog-constrained design

This is a Lightshaped-authored reference design, not a built project. Its geometry and automatic topology are inspectable; its physical output remains locked until site commissioning.

Commissioning is a receipt

A good-looking twin cannot unlock hardware.

Physical output becomes available only when an operator verifies the actual patch, mapping and release. AI can propose; it cannot author evidence about the installation it would control.

  1. 01

    Geometry

Dimensions, surfaces and coordinate frame are normalized into metres.

  2. 02

    Identity

Every emitting target keeps a stable product, module or fixture identity.

  3. 03

    Topology

Pixel order, packing, universe ranges and zones are explicit and inspectable.

  4. 04

    Observation

X, Y, Z, radial and order patterns are signed off against the real installation.

  5. 05

    Release

Evidence is bound to the rig fingerprint and exact software revision.

Bring one real project

Start with the file, scan or rig you already have.

We will identify the strongest import path, define what still needs verification and scope a bounded spatial-light pilot.
